22 years ago, Venerable Hui-Li brought Buddhism to the people of Africa. Alarmed by the AIDS pandemic and wandering orphans, he established the Amitofo Care Centre (ACC) in Malawi in 2004. This is the first Buddhist orphanage in Africa.
Venerable Hui-Li then began to adopt and sponsor orphans in Malawi, Lesotho and Swaziland. While planting the seed of Buddhism in this continent of poverty, hunger and AIDS, he also actively invested in cultural and educational affairs. He believes that education and Buddhist ethics could assist the younger generation to seek knowledge and learn good ethics, in order to lay stronger foundation for building awareness and ailment for poverty and related socioeconomic problems surrounding them.
